Words from our clients:

I can tell they really care for each customer because they don't shrug me off as another user asking the same questions they've answered over and over; responses to my questions are very detailed and original but not overwhelming.

Custom Programming

Let's say you've got a great idea for making your website more interactive, and more useful for your business and your clients.Perhaps your idea involves setting-up an online database for keeping track of inventory, or orders, or perhaps you want to give your customers the ability to access their billing information over the Internet.Maybe your idea is even simpler, or maybe it's even more complex.Whatever your idea, chances are you have a pretty good idea how you want it to work -- you just don't know how to make it happen.

Well, don't be afraid to think big.The Internet is a place where a skilled web-designer, and a skilled programmer, can make almost anything happen. With KMET Solutions on your side, you don't have to worry about limiting the functionality of your website. Our web-designers and programmers are well-versed in all the current Internet technologies. We can use our knowledge of the Internet to create a website that really works for you.If that means creating a custom program to handle your data or transactions in a particular fashion, well, we're up to the task.

What makes "custom programming" different from basic web-design?

That's a good question. To answer it, let's talk for a minute about what "basic web-design" actually is.

Your average everyday website consists of a collection of documents known as HTML or XML files. These files are stored on a webhosting account on a server computer, which is always online and always connected to the Internet. When you open your Internet browser on your home computer, and go to a website, your computer actually downloads the HTML/XML document which represents the page you want to view.Your internet browser then "reads" the raw data on this document, interprets it according to the HTML/XML standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium, and displays this interpretation in a window. This is what you see as a webpage.

The point, here, is that the HTML/XML document doesn't do any "thinking."It doesn't process any data, or respond intelligently to user-queries.Rather, it's your home computer -- or more accurately, your browser, be it Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, or something else -- which does all the thinking. It reads the webpage in its raw form, and displays it as something you, the user, can understand.

So, what if you want to offer a greater degree of interactivity than what HTML/XML pages allow for?Sure, clicking on links and viewing text and pictures is fine, but what if you want to personalize your website for each user? What if you want to allow your customers to process data through your website?

That's where custom programming enters the picture.Using programming technologies like PERL, PHP, CGI, Java, and JavaScript, our programmers can create websites that actually do respond intelligently to user-requests.

So, are you saying I need a custom script to handle any customer transactions I expect to receive through my website?

Not necessarily. It depends on what you want to do.In all honesty, there are a number of pre-written applications on the market which may serve your purposes just fine.We have access to many of these pre-written app's, and we'll discuss them with you if we think one would fit your needs.

However, if you want your website to do things in a particular way, there may not be a pre-written application that would suit you.Again, we'll discuss these matters as they come up.If we feel that a custom program would meet your needs better than a pre-written one, we'll discuss the options with you.

What if I already have a website? Can you create a custom program to enhance the functionality of my existing site?

Certainly!Drop us a line!

I don't need a website, but I would like a custom program written to handle certain in-office needs. Can you still help me?

Most of our custom-programming is Internet-based, but we can and have developed software solutions for use on business Intranets, as well as on individual workstations.Contact us, and let us know the details of your project. We'll discuss it.
